Petition launched to save Doncaster's Trax FM radio station from closure
and live on Freeview channel 276
Bauer Media, the company that owns the Heavens Walk based station, has announced that, from September 2020, the station as well as dozens of others across the country will be replaced with a nationwide network called Greatest Hits Radio.
Simon Greaves, who has set up the petition, said: “Trax FM is much loved, and a long-established, hugely popular part of the Doncaster and Bassetlaw community. The station is a vital source of local news; information and support for local businesses.

“It would spell the end of local radio; deprive businesses of a vital source of advertising and deny listeners a lifeline that many rely on to stay connected with their communities, especially now as we all adjust to life after lockdown.
Last month, Dee Ford of Bauer Radio said: “Audiences love and trust radio.
“Expanding the Hits Radio Brand Network will ensure listeners to these acquired stations benefit from multi-platform digital distribution meaning they can continue to broadcast in an increasingly competitive, digital, and voice-activated world.
“This ensures the provision of local news and information, traffic and travel as well as access for advertisers to highly valued audiences.”
