Police act over 'dangerously out of control' dogs on Doncaster street

We were called out because of concerns over dogs near South End, in Thorne. There were three German Shepherd dogs there, reported to have attacked another animal.
While we were there, on January 27, the owner came home. They have been interviewed and reported on summons for the dogs being dangerously out of control.

Hide AdThey were not being aggressive to people, and the other dog was not injured.
We are looking towards a community protection notice which would force them to take action to keep the dogs under control.
Thorne also saw reports of a man, who was banned from driving, taking his car out.
His vehicle was seen at Thorne Service Station. There was CCTV showing him driving there, getting out of the vehicle, returning and driving off.

There is an area of land owned by Highways England, between the M18 and Mill Hill Road, Hatfield, where some people think it is permitted to ride off road motorbikes. There are signs making it clear this is not the case, but people still come, often travelling some distance
On February 4, our officers spoke to three groups there, including families with children and motorbikes. They were issued with antisocial behaviour warning notices. One group in a van from Bradford also each received £200 fines for breaching Covid lockdown rules.
There was a theft of storage racks reported at Omega, in Thorne on February 3. Then, on February 11, a van was spotted driving off the road at junction five services. It was stopped and a man was arrested in connection with the theft.

Hide AdEarlier this year we had seen a spike in burglaries around Askern, Norton, Edenthorpe, Kirk Sandall and Armthorpe. We ran high visibility patrols and gave crime prevention advice in response.
But after making some enquiries for North Yorkshire Police in connection with break-ins in their area, we arrested a man early this month. He handed himself in at College Road Police Station in town, and numbers seem to have fallen now in those areas of Doncaster.
