A blaze at a disused Doncaster pub which raged for hours yesterday was started deliberately.
Fire investigators have examined the charred remains of the former Highfields Miner’s Welfare Club on South Street, which was engulfed in flames yesterday, and concluded that arson was to blame.
At the height of the blaze there were five fire engines at the scene.
Due to smoke plumes, residents nearby were advised to keep their doors and windows closed despite the heat.
