Sentencing today at Derby Crown Court, Judge Nirmal Shant QC said that Daniel Walsh had carried out the murder to get his hands on Mr Snell’s money and because the 71-year-old intended to kick him out of the home they were sharing in Marsden Street, Chesterfield.
The pensioner had discovered that Walsh, 30, had accessed his bank account and reported the thefts to the fraud team at Chesterfield’s Halifax branch, and to police on June 19 2019.
