Boris Johnson: ‘We want this lockdown to be the last’

Speaking at a Downing Street news conference, the prime minister said this was all thanks to unprecedented vaccine rollout by everyone involved in the delivery of Covid jabs.
But he stressed that now was "no moment to relax" as the vaccine rollout moves on to the next five priority groups.

Hide AdIn response to a question by a member of the public, Mr Johnson also said he hopes there "isn't that much longer to go now" with severe lockdown measures.
Hannah, from Glasgow, asked whether the next press conference could feature a mental health specialist.
He said: "Hannah, I think you’re making a very valid point and we will try and find the right person to say something about how to do this and how to encourage everybody to really look after our mental wellbeing and try and keep going through this pandemic.
“Because I hope that there isn’t that much longer to go now but clearly people have been under a lot of pressure and we’ve got to address that.”

Hide AdThe prime minister also stressed his intention to set out how England's third national lockdown will be eased next week.
"Next week I'll be setting out a roadmap saying as much as we possibly can about the route to normality, even though some things are very uncertain," he said.
