Gaming cafe hosting 24-hour event to raise money for Sheffield Children's Hospital

The Bake Battle and Roll cafe recently reopened its doors to customers with new social distancing measures in place.
They’re now turning their attention to raising money for Sheffield Children’s Hospital with a gaming marathon.

Hide AdOwner of the cafe, Rachel Savage, said: “The hospital has been struggling with fundraising lately because a lot of it came from large events and group activities which have obviously been cancelled due to Covid-19.
“We’re attempting to raise £1,000 to go towards updating one of their wards which is a bit run down.
“A lot of our customers have had treatment at the hospital both children and adults when they were younger.
“They always tell us how friendly and supportive it is there and look back at their time there fondly which can’t be said for many hospitals.”

Hide AdOn Saturday September 12 the cafe will start a gaming marathon at 2pm.
The event will include board games as well as the chance to play video games such as Mario Kart.
There will also be a raffle with prizes donated from Doncaster businesses such as Wonderland Awaits, Enchanted Way, and Punch Men's Wear.

Hide AdRachel said: “I’m planning on working the entire 24-hour shift and we have already had 13 customers sign up to say that they will do the whole marathon with us too.
“We’re really looking forward to the commadre that’s going to be here during the event.
“And taking bets on how much energy drink we’re going to need to stay up the whole time.”
