“We were all really anxious about how long we were going to be closed or if we would be able to open back up again at all.
“It was the same in the run-up to the reopening, we weren't sure how our clients would react to the new measures we have put in place.”
The Elite salon has installed a hand sanitizer station, is taking the temperature of every client before they enter and all staff members are wearing visors.

“We think the new measures are making the clients feel at ease,” Ashleigh said.
“We have asked every client to wear a mask and we have dedicated 15 minutes in between every appointment to clean.”
Ashleigh says reuniting with her clients has been an emotional experience.

“But a lot of people, myself included, have struggled mentally and it's been nice to discuss our experiences.
“Some clients have had babies in the last three months so there is also a lot to celebrate.”
Ashleigh believes that the lockdown period had given people time to reflect on the importance of hairdressing.
