A MUM will be making her second appearance at Ladies' Day today after shedding nearly eight stones to visit the races for the first time.
Susan Elliott dropped five dress sizes in six months and celebrated by showing off her new figure at last year's Ladies' Day.

The 44-year-old mum of three, who was a size 28 and nearly 20 stones, decided to lose weight after visiting her partner Martin Lee, 57, in hospital.

After undertaking a Lighter Life course, which included counselling, Susan of Mill Lane, Branton, visited the races for the first time last September with her mum Dorothy Turner.

Susan and her mum will be among a group of friends attending today's meeting.

She said: "Despite living in Doncaster all my life I had never attended the races, let alone try to dress up.

"A friend suggested I show off at Ladies' Day. I bought an outfit and went and people said I looked fabulous.

"I felt so glamorous. If I could have bottled that feeling it would be priceless."

One year on Susan has kept the weight off and on Monday started a college course training to become a medical secretary.

"I feel so confident now after losing weight. It has transformed my life."
