Two Doncaster millionaires are set to feature in a TV documentary tonight about some of the nation’s most excessive spenders.
Britain’s Flashiest Families, which will be broadcast on Channel 5 tonight, follows Robin and Noelie Goforth as they indulge in extravagant parties and purchases, including two new Range Rovers.
The cameras even followed Noelie as she underwent liposuction on her thighs.
Noelie said she thinks her and Robin were chosen for the show because they are ‘a bit eccentric’.
The 45-year-old said that, while she does enjoy spending, she does not often have the time to, due to her busy job at Hayfield Fisheries, which is owned by her and Robin, aged 65.
She said: “Robin is always saying there’s no point in being the richest woman in the graveyard and I think that’s true.
“However, when you get down to it we’re just a working class couple who just have a bit more brass to go on holiday.
“I just wish I had more time to spend some of the money I earn.
“I’ve got 200 pairs of shoes including Louboutins, Chanel and Versace, but most of them look new because I spend most of my time in my wellies.
“We’ve both come from working class families who have had to work hard for what we’ve got, that’s why one minute you might see us on a Sunseeker yacht worth more than £1 million and then eating fish and chips on the dock the next.
“We enjoy both equally, and I think that’s what they found interesting.”
Noelie and Robin, who own Hatfield fisheries as well as a number of petrol stations, are no strangers to reality television and have previously appeared on Channel 4’s Wife Swap.
The couple live in a six-bedroom Georgian mansion in Hatfield Lane, which Noelie believes is one of ‘Doncaster’s most expensive houses’.
Noelie said she is excited to watch the documentary next week – and says the couple could also become the subject of a reality television series later this year.
She said: “I want it to be called ‘The only way is DonnyVegas’, because we love Doncaster so much, and feel so privileged to live here.
“The people here are so warm and friendly, and we would want to show that if we had a reality television series.
“I’ve been all around the world and let me tell you -–there’s nowhere quite like Doncaster.”
