In the wake of three kidnap victims speaking out against their captor, Ariel Castro, after escaping from a house in Ohio last year, actress and writer Rosie MacPherson is performing one-woman theatre show Inside at venues across the UK.
Inspired by astonishing true stories, Inside is a psychological drama that explores the effects of Stockholm Syndrome on a kidnap victim desperate to keep hope.
Locked in a basement for 12 years, she has survived physical and psychological abuse by escaping to her childhood and recording video messages to her mum.
Reeling from her latest beating and in the most critical hour of her captivity, the victim discovers that not everything she’s been told is true.
But to find a way out, she’ll have to break through something much stronger than just the basement door.
Actress Rosie MacPherson also wrote the show, which has won a host of five-star reviews.
Insidecomes to the Doncaster venue tonight, Thursday.
Box office: at the theatre in Waterdale, online at Cast in Doncaster or call 01302 303 959.
It will also be at Theatre Delicatessen in the old Woolworth’s building on The Moor in Sheffield on February 21 and 22.
