King-size travellers are preparing to take root in Doncaster with an appearance at a town club.

King Size Voodoo Traveller – Ally Lee, on guitar and vocals, guitarist Bruce Campbell, bassist Garry Scott and drummer George Waters – are the latest act lined up to appear at the town’s Roots Music Club.

A club spokesman said: “King Size Voodoo Traveller were formed at the start of 2013 when George and Ally, from Fickle Lilly, felt the need to do even more playing than they were.

“Old mate Bruce and Oil City Connection bass player Garry were brought in to complete the line-up.

“Ally wanted to bring songs from his days in the Hillbillies from Outer Space, Kloppengruber and Twango Bango Deluxe and add some old Quo numbers along with more Steve Earle, Tom Petty and John Hiatt.

“They play rock, blues and country – simple.”

n King Size Voodoo Traveller play Roots Music Club, Ukrainian Centre, Beckett Street, Doncaster town centre, on Friday, February 19, from 7.30pm.

Tickets are £10 on the door, or £8 in advance from www.rootsmusicclub.co.uk
