It’s a safe bet that racegoers are set for a weekend to remember as pop superstars The Saturdays and Lawson trot into town.
Both bands will perform at Doncaster Racecourse on Saturday as part of a double bill of live music.
Speaking to the Free Press about their upcoming performance Lawson guitarist Joel Peat said: “We’re really looking forward to it. We pride ourselves on our live shows, we put on a real rock show and try and change the songs up and give people something different.
“If people want to see four lads on stage having a really god time, have a sing along and a dance I’d say come down.
“Playing at the racecourse will be a first for us. I’m from Mansfield so a lot of my friends have been to Donny races over the years and a lot of my friends are going to the races on Saturday so hopefully I’ll get a chance to catch up with them too. “I’m planning to have a bet too, when in Rome and all that.”
The Saturdays, who have been making their mark on America and have recently celebrated their first UK number 1 single, will also be lighting up the stage.
The Saturdays are good friends with Lawson and singer Mollie King was previosuly in a relationship with Lawson lead singer Andy Brown.
Joel said: “They’ll be no awkwardness we are really good friends with the girls and Mollie is really supportive of Andy and the band so it’ll be good to catch up with them.”
Lawson are descending on Doncaster following their impressive Chapman Square tour and fresh from a stint in Asia.
And there’s no rest following their performance as they are then jetting off to LA on Sunday to film their next music video. For tickets visit Doncaster Racecourse or call 01302 511 918.
