The Doncaster Ladies Choir, who are this year celebrating their 50th anniversary, together with soprano Catherine Noble, performed at Hall Cross Lower School in early December – and all profits raised have been donated to St John’s Hospice at Balby.

Rita Hannam, chairwoman of the choir, said: “The choir is keen to support local charities. Doncaster people, who have supported our events, then know where the money is going and it is kept within the borough. It was a pleasure to raise this money for the hospice as it is such a good cause.”

Chris Smith, of the hospice appeal, said: “I want to thank all of the ladies in the choir for doing this concert for us. Their efforts are really appreciated. It was a fantastic night and a great way to raise money for our appeal. Thank you!”
