Animating Doncaster’s town centre and surrounding communities – including art in empty shop units - is an inaugural arty festival.

The DNweekeND, part of the Doncaster Borough wide Right Up Our Street project will animate Doncaster town centre plus Balby, Bentley, East, Mexborough and Rossington, over the course of one weekend, from Friday May 9 to Sunday May 11.

The DNweekeND is looking for enthusiastic and committed individuals to join a team of stewards and marketing volunteers to make the event a brilliant and fantastic new festival.

This is a great chance to be an integral part of an exciting new project in the arts sector. Working alongside a friendly and motivated team, including an experienced creative producer, event management and marketing professionals and professional technicians, DNweekeND will provide valuable understanding and hands on experience to develop the skill set for working in a competitive creative field.

Volunteer stewards will assist the event management and technical teams during the weekend. Marketing volunteers will assist the marketing teams in the lead up to the festival. Steward roles include meeting and greeting performers, chaperoning entertainers, providing information for the public, assisting the event site manager in the running of the event and assisting in the set up and clearing away of the event. Marketing volunteer roles include distribution of promotional material, assisting with mailouts, creating bespoke distribution lists and updating the website.

DNweekeND is part of Right Up Our Street – which is led by a consortium of Doncaster arts organisations and supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England until 2016. Right Up Our Street is all about Doncaster people choosing, making, seeing and sharing brilliant cultural ideas.

For one weekend only local groups and artists will take over empty shop units and public spaces in two town centre areas Frenchgate and Waterdale as well as Lakeside Village. But not only is the town centre involved, surrounding areas like Balby, Bentley, East (Hatfield, Moorsend, Thorne, Stainforth), Mexborough and Rossington are part of the happenings during the DNweekeND.

Volunteers will receive full briefing sessions and expenses (lunch/refreshments) will be provided throughout the weekend.

Applicants must be 18 years or over. To apply please download and complete the application form online by visiting http://rightupourstreet.org.uk/dnweekend.

The deadline for submissions for volunteers is Monday, April 14, at noon.
