Epworth’s skies are set to dazzle this weekend, as bonfire night celebrations get underway.

Following on from a successful Epworth Agricultural Show earlier this year, the Epworth and District Bonfire Committee are set to celebrate with a fantastic firework display to mark Guy Fawkes night.

The event is set to take place on Saturday, November 8 at Epworth Show Field.

Celebrations will get underway at 4.30pm with the bonfire being lit at 6pm, and a sparkling fireworks display starting at 6.45pm. “We are really looking forwards to our bonfire night this year, especially after such a successful Show year,” said Maggie Antcliffe, Chair of the Epworth and District Agricultural Society. She added: “It’s the perfect way to end such a fantastic year, and to let us go out with a bang.

“This year, the charities that we are supporting are Friends of Epworth, the Epworth Light Appeal and the Epworth Show, and all proceeds will be going towards these great local causes.”

The Epworth Agricultural Show that took place on August Bank Holiday, with a great crowd that was wowed by the variety of acts and entertainment.

“It was such a great atmosphere at the Show this year, and we’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who was involved in making the day such a success, and also such fun. Plans are already under way for next year’s Show, and we are asking for people to contact us who would like to be involved on the Committee. We are always on the look out for new ideas, so we’d welcome some fresh faces.” There will be a variety of food stall s and a fully licensed bar inside a heated marquee.

To bring the party atmosphere there will be fairground rides, a darts throwing stall and trampolines. Admission costs £5 for adults, £2 for children under 13 and entry is free for under fives.

Parking is free, and the Committee is asking for no sparklers to be brought to the event.
