Cyberspace soccer is coming to the Marketplace’s Masons Arms!

The pub is organising its own Champions League tournament to mark the release last Friday of the FIFA 14 computer game.

Barman Chris Barker, who has organised the event which takes place on Sunday October 13, said: “It’s just a bit of fun – lots of people who come into the pub have been really interested.”

There is just one place left out of 16 for the tournament, which will organised with an initial group stage and then a knockout ground leading to the grand final.

“Doing it over one day will be a bit of a marathon but at least you know you’re going to see a winner at the end of the day,” Chris said. “We’re doing it on a Sunday so, if you’re between games or get knocked out you can go and watch a Premiership match on our TV to take your mind off it!”

There is a £5 buy-in for the competition – first prize is £60.
