A BUDDING Epworth artist has scooped the top prize in an art competition.

Cherise Foster, 16, entered three pieces of work into this year’s Misterton Art Group’s annual show at the Dovecote Cafe in Misterton.

Her painting Two’s Company won the best landscape section of the show and was later awarded best entry in the whole show at the presentation evening on Monday.

The teenager is about to go to the John Leggott College in Scunthorpe to study A-level art - having gained top marks in her GCSE art exam - with ambitions to go to university to become an art teacher.

She has already been commissioned to produce a number of portraits and paintings for friends, family and the general public and has also sold her artwork to clients as far afield as Australia and the USA.
