A MULTI-STOREY car park will undergo a £2.5 million refurbishment as part of Doncaster’s controversial Civic and Cultural Quarter (CCQ).
Plans for the 850-space Southern Bus Station site include a new entrance and exit off College Road, upgrading CCTV systems, installing energy efficient lighting and new lifts.
The concrete parking levels will also be repaired and repainted and the pay and display machine will be replaced by a ‘pay on foot’ system.
Developer Muse of Manchester is funding the plans and its sister company Morgan Sindall will carry out the work later this month with the aim of completing it by September.
The car park will remain open throughout the refurbishment.
The £300 million CCQ will completely overhaul the Waterdale area of the town centre and includes plans for Doncaster’s first public square, a new performance venue, council offices and affordable housing.
