Thousands of screaming fans descended onto the Keepmoat Stadium to watch One Direction sensation Louis Tomlinson return to his hometown for his Doncaster Rovers debut.
The former Hall Cross popstar arrived in a blacked out estate with best friend Stan Lucas to meet and greet his thousands of fans who travelled from as far as America to see the heartthrob in action for Rovers reserves.
The Doncaster right-back spoke exclusively to the Doncaster Free Press & Star ahead of his footballing debut against South Yorkshire rivals Rotherham United - all proceeds from the evening match will be going to Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.
“I’m really nervous. I’ve not felt this nervous for a while. I’m slightly out of my comfort zone but it’s going be fun. It’s an amazing opportunity for someone who loves football. I spent all my childhood years coming to watch Doncaster Rovers, so it’s a real honour,” said the 22-year-old.
On his Rovers team-mates he added: “They’re a great set of lads. I was a little worried about coming over first about the stick I might have got. But all the guys have been really supportive. It’s a great club.”
Tomlinson is currently off from One Direction popstar duties before he and bandmates Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and Niall Horan head out on tour.See More on Louis’ return in tomorrow’s Doncaster/Sheffield Star.
