A MAJOR makeover worth £30,000 could herald a new era at a Doncaster pub.
Darren Taylor and Laura Peacock are taking over the Winning Post in Warmsworth Road in Balby.
The pair, who are both from Balby, also run The Plough, which they plan to continue to oversee while they start their new venture.
Work is already under way at the Winning Post and a grand opening is planned for the first week in December.
As well as putting in new windows, builders are also giving the pub a new look inside.
Darren, 42, said: “There are a lot of people who can’t wait to see the pub re-open.
“A lot of money is being invested into the pub and we’d like to see as many people as possible come along and have a look.”
As well as introducing food on week nights and a Sunday roast, Darren is also hoping to provide a variety of entertainment and special themed nights.
He added: “I’m hoping to alternate between bands and karaoke on Saturday nights.
“I’d also like to have a weekly sports quiz.
“We’ll also be showing Sky football. A pool team already plays here so we’d like them to stay on.
“We’re also looking to start up a darts team. Everyone would be welcome to come along.”
Darrren, who has run The Plough for 11 years, also plans to introduce a range of drinks offers at The Winning Post.
The pub is closing for a short time while the work is carried out.
Though a date is not yet fixed, he’s planning to put on a grand opening including music from Monkey Dust.
New managers at The Plough, Karen and Ash Ashcroft, will deal with the day-to-day running of the High Road pub.
