Warriors power past Vikings

NEWLY-PROMOTED Selby Warriors began their warm-up for the under-15s league campaign with a pre-season victory over Hoyland Vikings.

The Warriors, whose junior season is due to kick-off in March, struck first though skipper Chaz Fothergill.

The hosts dug in to level matters at 4-4 before the Warriors, who lost George Stoker through injury, saw stand-off Jamie Graley finish a fine move. Jonny Black converted. Graley scored again, however Selby’s ill discipline allowed Hoyland in to close the gap to 10-14.

But the Warriors proved too strong with further scores from debutant Niall Coulthard, Henry Levett, Leon Spowage and a Fothergill conversion.
