Just weeks after clinching the English Schools FA championship, Balby Carr’s girls football team could make it cause for a double celebration as they gear up for another final - this time at the national training centre of St George’s Park.

For Doncaster’s trophy-winning outfit netted their place in the Premier Cup final following superb wins over Lincoln College, Barnsley College and Worthing College.

The team, who beat Reading’s John Madejski Academy 4-2 to win the English Schools accolade, will play either Accrington or Solihull in the Premier final at St George’s Park on April 30.

The side will also play Solihull in the semi-final of the league play-offs - due to be staged next month.

Coach Steven Spittlehouse said: “Our ambition is to win but we understand the demands on the girls and all we ask is they give 100 per cent. Win, lose or draw all of the staff will be proud of the squad’s achievements.”
