LYNN Howells has put his faith in youth for this weekend’s ‘winner takes it all’ cup clash at Ayr.
Saturday’s victors will join Group D winners Pontypridd in the quarter-finals of the British & Irish Cup.
On loan youngsters Craig Hampson, Oli Denton and Chris Walker are all included in Howells’ side, alongside 21-year-old lock Dominic Parsons and local lads Lewis Thiede and Tom Doughty.
Centre Andy Gates, who has missed most of the season through injury, also starts at Millbrae.
Howells said: “The quarter finals of this competition are a tough game away, against a team who know how to win at home.
“This weekend’s game has been built up as a game between England and Scotland but we will be approaching this as the next round of the British and Irish Cup.
“We showed an inventiveness against Rotherham Titans in the last round of matches and we will need that in abundance against a team as good as Ayr, who have pushed on a great amount since we last met.”
