LEAGUE leaders Wheatley Hills came back from 18-0 down at Sheffield to win 25-21 and record a magnificent seventh straight victory in North One East.

Mark Ireland scored two tries, Andy Kelly touched down, and Mark Ireland ran 40 yards to give the hosts a commanding lead.

The fight back began with scrum half Dave Scully touching down, with Jonathan Woodcock converting on 28 minutes.

Number eight Gareth Burns followed it up with another try, with Woodcock again adding the extras.

Ireland responded with a penalty but two Woodcock penalties and a second try for Burns wrapped up the points.

Wath on Dearne got the better of local rivals Barnsley with a 38-15 victory in Yorkshire One.

Doncaster Phoenix went third in Yorkshire Two as they ran in seven tries on their way to a 44-22 victory at Hullensians.

Phoenix steamrollered their way into a 32-0 lead with what team manager Drew Noble described as their best first half performance for four years.

Player coach Ryan Peacey scored a hat trick of tries, with Craig Deakin, Ollie Vidgeon, Dan Morris and Adrian Sheehan also on the scoresheet.

Thornensians moved up to second place in Yorkshire Three after a bonus-winning 25-17 win in their latest match at Rotherham Phoenix.

Rossington Hornets reached the first round proper of the Yorkshire Silver Trophy when they beat hosts Wensleydale 17-15 in the preliminary round on Saturday.

Adwick le Street lost 16-30 to Wibsey in their preliminary round match.
