KNIGHTS have already turned their attention to next season after agonisingly missing out on a lucrative Championship semi-final spot.

Saturday’s 27-24 defeat to Cornish Pirates - combined with Bedford Blues’ easy win against Rotherham - saw Doncaster lose out to the Blues by just one point in the final Pool B standings.

The Castle Park clash marked the end of Welshman Lynn Howells’ four-year reign as director of rugby.

It also proved to be a final appearance in Doncaster colours for several star men, including leading try scorer Matty Williams and player of the season Steve McColl.

But new boss Brett Davey is wasting no time in rebuilding the Knights squad in time for another promotion tilt next term.
