BRETT Davey’s rebuilding job at the Knights has been made harder by the loss of two key players.
Player of the season Steve McColl has agreed to join Aviva Premiership strugglers Leeds Carnegie next season, while leading points scorer Tristan Roberts has opted to sign for Bristol.
Local lad Michael Cusack, meanwhile, has signed for Magners League side Glasgow Warriors.
Full back McColl, who has enjoyed his best ever season in the game, will be the hardest to replace.
Davey said: “Stevie McColl has been an example of professionalism in all he has done through this period and I can’t thank him enough for that.
“His attitude and behaviour, on and off the pitch, in this time of contract talks has been nothing short of perfect professionalism and could be held up as a lesson on how to conduct yourself in this sport.
“I spotted something in Stevie when I first saw him and he has developed, by putting in a lot of hard work himself, into possibly the best full back in this league and I’m proud to have been a part of his development.”
