Hills’ hopes tumble after setback

Wheatley Hills’ promotion hopes suffered a setback when they lost 12-10 at Old Brodleians on Saturday.

The North One East high flyers’ discipline let them down, with all their rivals’ points coming from penalties.

Old Brodleians took a 6-0 lead at half time with fly half Nick O’Connor kicking their penalties.

Wheatley hit back ten minutes after the break with left winger Tom Barker scoring in the corner after the ball had been moved quickly along the line.

A second try followed just two minutes later through second row Byron Elliott, which put Wheatley into a 10-6 lead.

But they were punished by further O’Connor penalties on 55 and 60 minutes.
