Danny Kenny looks set to be thrown in at the deep end after joining Doncaster Knights from London Irish.
The 25-year-old Dubliner - brought in to bolster Clive Griffiths’ back row options - is poised to go straight into Knights’ squad for Saturday’s visit of Henley Hawks.
Kenny, who has also represented Leinster A and Connaught’s development XV, is likely to join top of the table Doncaster until the end of the season.
Director of rugby Griffiths said: ““We have had our eye on Danny for a little while now, he was impressive for London Irish last weekend and we think he can make a seamless transition.
“He’s a versatile back-rower, comfortable and capable across all three positions.
“He’s an exciting ball carrier with a lot of pace, not scared to put his head in and is a real no nonsense type of player.
“Ian Gough at London Irish has highly recommended him and we look forward to seeing him in a Knights shirt.””
