Paul Cooke hopes the Knights have put their away day worries behind them following the win at windswept Worthing.

With conditions hardly ideal on the South Coast and the Raiders a tricky prospect at home, there looked a strong possibility the Knights could come undone on the road for a fourth time this term.

While they came away with a narrow 21-17 win, backs coach Cooke says he never felt they were in any danger.

“I’m not sure there were many in the camp who felt like it but I never thought we’d lose the game,” he said.

“It was one of those you had a few doubts about but it’s great to see the lads weren’t worried about it.

“We had a team meeting after the last away defeat and a lot of things were laid out on the table.

“It looks like it has worked because the lads put in a great shift and deserved the win.

“That win sets us up nicely for the rest of the away trips this season.

“There’s some tough ones coming up and we definitely didn’t want to be going into those with any doubts.

“Hopefully that’s any lingering worries put to bed and we can get on with the job.”

The trip to Sussex was a rare away outing for Cooke who is only committed to home games as part of his working agreement.

The Knights are back at Castle Park on Saturday when they host 12th placed Cinderford.

He has been delighted with what he has seen at home where the Knights continue to hold a 100 per cent record this term.

He said: “The home form has been really pleasing because the lads just keep getting the job done.

“Cinderford are a hit and miss side but they can cause plenty of problems.

“They gave Coventry a great game and led the try count 5-4 but lost.

“All five of those tries came from within the 22 and we’d already marked them out as a threat with the catch and drive.

“Territory is going to be a big factor in this game.

“If we can keep them at distance then I think we’ll be ok.”
