KNIGHTS will kick off their Championship promotion play-off campaign at the Pirates - after the two sides ended the normal season in scrappy fashion.

Doncaster will travel to Cornwall in three weeks time for their first Pool B fixture.

They will also tackle local rivals Rotherham Titans and highly fancied Bedford Blues both home and away in a bid to reach the Championship’s grand final.

A converted try from centre Tom Luke and two Rob Cook penalties saw the Pirates take a 13-6 lead at half time at Castle Park on Saturday.

Ed Jackson’s late try, converted by the in-form Christian Lewis-Pratt, gave the Knights hope.

But Cook’s third penalty for the Pirates, who finshed third in the table, utlimately proved the difference between the teams.

Sixth placed Doncaster turn their attention towards the British & Irish Cup this weekend and will reach the quarter-final stage by winning at Scottish Premiership side Ayr on Saturday.
