Doncaster Demons continued their rapid growth after seeing four of their number invited to join Yorkshire RFU summer training camps.
After a gruelling two hour trial on the hottest day of the year earlier this month at Castleford RUFC, a quartet of Demons were handed the opportunity for further development over the summer.
Anna King and Erin Poole from the Demons U15s and Memphis Jubb and Savannah Andrade from the U18s were selected.
U18 manager Rebecca Jubb believes the selections reflect the growth of the Demons as well as the ability of the girls.
“Having these girls selected for this camp is a huge achievement for them.” Jubb said. “The work they put in during training sessions is now starting to pay off.
“Having a new coaching structure this season will build on the last few seasons and take the girls from the whole section to the next level.
“This is what is needed as Doncaster Demons have a three-year plan to go beyond being the best girls section in the Doncaster area.”
More than 150 players were involved during the trial day which involved assessment of ability in the core skills of the game, including passing and game awareness.
Two age groups of 35 were selected and will now train alongside existing Yorkshire squad members over the summer, in preparations for trials in October.
The Demons are looking to enhance their growing teams and invite anyone interested in joining their ranks to join in training every Thursday at Toppies Field beside the Sportsman on Armthorpe Road from 6-7.30pm.
