A new-look Bentley Companions under-18s took the Yorkshire bragging rights as they overcame Wakefield’s Eastmoor in a pre-season friendly.
The team was put together last season and have this term been on a recruitment drive to bring in new members after several players had left the club.
Training hard over the last few months, Bentley have also been practicing alongside their senior division in a bid to get them ready for their 2013-14 campaign.
To help them prepare further, Bentley hosted a pre-season friendly - welcoming West Yorkshire’s Eastmoor to their ground.
Both teams had met three times last season with the Doncaster outfit winning two of those fixtures.
Sunday’s game saw both sides showing no nerves as big tackles flew in from both sides.
Both packs of forwards made good territory for the backs to run some distance down the wings.
Sean Jowett, playing a new role at full-back, caught all but one high kick as he ran the ball back to the half-way line.
Bentley took the lead early and slick handling saw them increase their lead, however, some ill discipline and lack of concentration saw Eastmoor claw back into contention.
Bentley eventually regrouped and finished the game 38-28 with a last minute try in the corner and Jowett converting.
Tries: Brad Smith, Jordan Middleton (3), debutant Connor Clarke (2), and two tries from man of the match Farai Chitiza (pictured).
