MATT Carbutt is the main injury doubt for the Dons as they prepare for the next stage of the Cooperative Championship One Play Offs at Rochdale on Sunday.

The forward suffered a knee injury in last weekend’s impressive win over Whitehaven which extended Doncaster’s season by another week.

And Carbutt has struggled to train this week but coach Tony Miller has yet to give up hope of him recovering in time to face the Hornets at Spotland.

Rochdale coach John Stankevitch is boosted by the return of Gary Middlehurst and Steve McDermott.

The Dons triumphed 26-16 when they visited Spotland in the regular season but Stankevitch believes his side have yet to show their best to Doncaster this term.

He said: “I’ve done a lot of video work on Doncaster.

“They keep things basic, complete their sets and try to force you into an error.

“They grind you down.

“They’ll be really confident, which they should be, but I don’t think Doncaster have seen us at anywhere near our best this season.”
