Doncaster Rugby League Club have announced a partnership with he Balby Academy of Sport, which will see the creation of an under-18 side.
The new team, named the Balby Dons, will effectively become the club’s second team and will be based at the sports college.
The playing squad will train and play within the college’s excellent sports facilities and the Dons team of coaches will provide first class training.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for young rugby league players to get involved with the club through our partnership with Balby Academy of Sport,” Dons’ head coach Tony Miller said.
“As a club we are working very hard to raise the awareness of rugby league in Doncaster and the surrounding area. We really want to build on last season’s success and would like to have local players playing for their local team.
“We are therefore on the look-out for fresh, young and exciting talent who has the appetite to succeed and the aspirations to become a regular first team player for the Dons.
“We really believe Doncaster has some tremendous young rugby league talent out there who could one day step out on to the Keepmoat Stadium pitch wearing a Dons shirt.”
The Dons already has a strong link with the college through their successful rugby league academy programme which provides the combination of education and the development of performance in the sport.
The first U18s training session will be held between 6-7pm at the college, on Friday February 22.
