Matt Carbutt insists the Dons are not just looking to make up the numbers as they bid for a play-offs place - they’re aiming much higher than that.
Doncaster are currently fourth in the Championship table and five points clear of Batley Bulldogs in fifth.
At stake is a chance for the top eight teams to compete in the league play-offs for the Championship Grand Final crown.
But forward star Carbutt says Doncaster are not just looking to make up the play-offs’ eight teams, they are aiming higher.
“There is a lot of talk about finishing in the top eight but we are setting our standards a bit higher than that,” he said.
“We want to finish as high as possible, we have put ourselves in a really good position.
“With nine games to go we need to keep plugging these wins out and see what happens in the play-offs.”
The Dons did their hopes of finishing strongly no harm at the weekend as they claimed a 22-16 victory over Whitehaven which was played at Castle Park - the home of the Doncaster Knights.
And this Sunday the side have the chance to continue in their quest for Championship play-offs honours when they travel to take on North Wales Crusaders.
However, Carbutt has been quick to warn that despite Crusaders’ lowly league position, the Welsh outfit will not be an easy opponent.
The prop forward added: “They are a tough physical side. They got one over on us in pre-season but it is one-game-all now.
“We will go there with confidence but it will be a tough game.”
