Few Doncaster players have been more consistent this season than goal-kicking winger Stewart Sanderson.
Sanderson produced a typically hard-working display in last weekend’s magnificent 39-18 win over third-placed Halifax.
Although many people within the game will probably have fancied Halifax to complete the double over the Dons, not so Sanderson and his team-mates.
“We are always confident within the camp and a lot of people don’t give us credit for where we are and for what we’ve achieved this season,” said Sanderson.
“But I feel that we put down our marker on Sunday and showed everybody that we deserve to finish in the top four.
“We know that if we turn up on the day we can turn anybody over. The only side we’ve not beaten this season is Dewsbury, who have proved to be a bit of a bogey team.
“It’s going to be just as tough agaisnt Batley because they need to win to be certain of hanging on to their Championship status. There is no tougher match than playing a team in those circumstances.
“Batley are a better side than their ninth position suggests, and we are going to have to play as well, if not better, than against Halifax.
“But there’s a great spirit in the camp, fostered over several years, and we are determined to hang on to third spot and also give ourselves a chance of finishing second.”
