Players from Doncaster Knights will not be pulling on Dons’ colours during their closed season insists Paul Cooke.

There had been talk that Cooke would use his position as skills coach for the Knights to convince some of the players to cross the codes and turn out for his Dons side during the summer.

But Cooke has ruled out such moves due to the full time status of the Knights.

He said: “There’s a few of the lads at Castle Park who I’m sure would slot right into rugby league but it’s not going to happen with us.

“The lads who I think could do are all full time and they all look like re-signing for the Knights.

“They’re getting a wage from the Knights and we couldn’t risk them coming here and getting injured.

“They’re back in pre-season training on June 26 so there’s no real time to get them in for training any way.”

Cooke tipped Mat Clark, Paul Jarvis, Tyson Lewis and Bevon Armitage as players who could cross the codes will little problem
