Carl Hall says the creation of a Dons Academy is a dream come true.
Doncaster RLFC have launched a new Rugby League Performance Academy Programme in conjunction with Club Doncaster Foundation.
And chief executive Hall says it is a watershed moment for the ambitious Championship club.
Hall said: “This is the dream for me.
“When I took ownership of the club, what I wanted to do was launch a scholarship just like this. Thanks to the Foundation, it has now come to fruition.
“It’s another big step towards us becoming the complete club.
“This is the future of Doncaster Rugby League, and we firmly believe in the long term that this Academy will produce the next generation of Dons players. Paul Cooke [player coach] and myself are very excited about this project.
“The most important thing is we’re giving youngsters an education.
“Rugby league is a short career but anyone who comes through this programme will have something to fall back on.”
The Dons Academy is open to students aged 16-19 and offers teenagers the opportunity to study full time and train for up to 12 hours a week with Doncaster RLFC first team coaches and members of the Dons’ playing squad.
Anyone interested in enrolling is invited to the annual Careers Fair at the Keepmoat Stadium on Monday, January 19 (3.30-6pm).
