DONCASTER 40 OLDHAM 18

DONCASTER underlined their title Co-operative Championship One title credentials with a seven-try destruction of Oldham.

Tries from Craig Fawcett and Tom Hodson, the latter latching onto an inch perfect Paul Cooke pass, gave the Dons a 10-4 half time lead after Shaun Robinson had broken the deadlock for the visitors.

An even contest opened up after the break as the class of Cooke and the power of Doncaster’s pack proved too much for a well fancied Oldham side.

Fran Welsh, Mike Kelly, Danny Cowling, Kyle Kesik and Jack Ely all touched down as Tony Miller’s side coasted to their seventh league win out of eight - to keep them two points clear at the top of the table.

Winger Hodson kicked six goals to add to his impressive points tally for the season, while Oldham added consolation tries from Michael Ward, David Cookson and Miles Greenwood.
