Members of Chesterfield Panthers U8s had a tremendous day out when they were invited to provide a guard of honour at the Leicester Tigers home match against London Irish.
The match was broadcast live on Sky Sports on Saturday and the north Derbyshire youngsters were featured as the players walked on to the pitch at Welford Road, which was packed with more than 20,000 fans.
In addition, the Chesterfield youngsters remained on the playing surface for the minute’s silence to mark Armistice weekend.
That was followed by a bugler performing The Last Post and after the game there was a firework display.
There were also fireworks during the game as Leicester led 13-7 at half time, an advantage they stretched to 24-7.
But London Irish rallied and a late try earned them a 24-24 draw.
Panthers coach Paul Lomas said: “We had a truly fantastic day and all the kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves! We are hoping to perform the honours again next year, Leicester have invited us back!’’
