Doncaster RLFC secured a hard earned win at Coventry Bears to leapfrog Workington Town back into second spot and also close the gap on Betfred League One leaders Barrow Raiders.

Barrow and Workington’s 24-24 draw meant the Dons’ 34-16 victory moved them to within two points of Barrow ahead of the two sides’ clash in Cumbria next weekend.

Richard Horne’s side had to come from behind after trailing 16-12 at the break but a strong second half performance extended their unbeaten run to seven games.

First half tries from Misi Taulapapa and Aaron York kept a determined home side within reach.

The visitors gained more of a stranglehold as Coventry began to tire and tries from Matty Beharrell, Jason Tali, Brandon Douglas and Tom Halliday secured the victory.
