CONISBROUGH darts ace Dean Winstanley took out multiple time world champions Raymond van Barneveld and Ted Hankey to win his group at the Grand Slam of Darts.

Winstanley was the first player in the 32 man field to qualify for the second round following victories over Ted Hankey and Ian White.

And the 30-year-old concluded the group stage in style with victory over five time world champion van Barneveld, who was surprisingly eliminated after defeats to Hankey and White.

He will now face former UK Open finalist Mark Walsh on Thursday evening for a place in the quarter finals.

Winstanley whitewashed Hankey 5-0 on the opening night of the tournament which brings together the best of the PDC with the elite of the BDO.

He then had a tougher time against Ian White and came back from 4-3 down to win the last two legs and book his place in Thursday’s second round.

Winstanley put the icing on the cake by picking up a 5-2 win over van Barneveld.
