HARRY The Viking - jointly owned by Sir Alex Ferguson and twice a winner at Town Moor last season - could be a runner for Doncaster’s principal meeting over Jumps, the two-day Sky Bet Chase Meeting, this weekend.
The event features the most valuable race of the Jumping season locally, The Sky Bet Chase on Saturday – which offers prize money of £75,000.
This is complemented by a quartet of Grade 2 races, along with a handicap chase making the amount of prize money on offer during the day of £245,000.
The Sky Bet Chase is a Handicap and Listed race over three miles. A quality turnout is expected, including potential Cheltenham Festival and Grand National contenders. Possible runners in the big race, other than the Manchester United manager’s investment, could be last year’s winner, Calgary Bay (now in the care of trainer Mick Channon), Fruity O’Rooney (third last year) and Cape Tribulation (successful in the Rowland Meyrick Handicap Chase at Wetherby on Boxing Day) and Bold Sir Brian.
