Hall Cross’ Year Nine boys tennis team are having a smashing time - and they are now just one step away from reaching the national finals.

The Doncaster school meet Altrincham Grammar School in the semi-finals of the northern area in Sunderland today.

Merchiston Castle (Edinburgh) meet St Olaves (York) in the other semi-final.

Hall Cross reached this stage of the competition for the first time ever by beating Birkdale, High Storrs and Tapton in the South Yorkshire regional finals.

They then held all the aces as they also got the better of East Yorkshire champions Wolfreton High School and West Yorkshire champions Holmfirth to earn a spot in the Sunderland semis.
