Taekwondo: Scorpion stars impress at British Championships

Scorpion Taekwondo are celebrating a seven-medal haul at the recent GB National Championships in Manchester.

Laurie McLelland, 15, and Tom Smith, 12, won gold in their respective junior categories, while Paigan Avery, 11, earned a silver in the cadet female competition.

Sam Fairhurst, five, and Gareth Avery, 32, came away with bronze medals in the pee-wee and senior categories respectively. Aiden Robb and Cobhan McLellend also competed at the Velodrome. Doncaster Scorpions finished fourth place out of 81 teams.

Scorpion instructor Ian Fairhurst said: “I’d like to say well done to the club. We took seven players and came away with five medals, including two golds. That’s a brilliant achievement for a small club like ourselves.”
