Ex-Doncaster Dartes and Armthorpe swimmer Sophie Taylor surged to gold and silver medals at the Commonwealth Games.
The 18-year-old broke the British record with a superb comeback to claim a PB time of 1.06.35 in the 100m breaststroke final - putting the disappointment of missing out on a 50m breastroke medal - by the narrowest of margins - behind her.
She then won silver in the women’s 4x100m Medley Relay final.
Sheffield-born Sophie was a member of Armthorpe and Doncaster Dartes for four years before moving to Harrogate.
A spokesman for Armthorpe Swimming Club said: “We all knew she was going to be a very good breaststroke swimmer but achieving this level of success is brilliant.
“At Armthorpe and Dartes we might have only played a small part in Sophie’s overall development into a top-flight swimmer but we are very proud of our Commonwealth champion.”
