An academy’s swimming team took the plunge against county sides to finish third in the Humber School Games.
The team from South Axholme Academy was made up of six boys and as many girls as they each competed in a number of individual races and relays against the best schools from North Lincolnshire, Hull, East Riding and North East Lincolnshire.
Ellis Worboys clinched first place in the 25m girls backstroke with a time of 17:73 with team-mate Charlotte Wilson coming third in 19:09.
Ethan Smith reached the final of the boys 25m backstroke and finished fourth with a time of 21.59 as Kyle Blackburn picked up valuable points in the backstroke with a time of 24.
Tom Keating (27:33) and Cerys Addlesee (26:09) both reached the final for the 25m breaststroke.
In the 25m freestyle, Cameron Dobbs achieved third place for the boys (19:18) and Emma Hughes finished fourth in the girls race with a time of 19:05.
Wilson then claimed another third place, this time in the 50m freestyle, finishing in 37:11. Fourth place went to Smith in 33:44.
Raising their game in the relays, worth double points, the girls came first in the 25m freestyle, with the mixed relay teams coming second in the 4x50m freestyle and third in the medley as the boys 25m freestyle squad finished in fourth.
