Swimming: Dartes make a splash at regional finals

DONCASTER Dartes got their new season off to a flying start by claiming several titles at the prestigious Yorkshire Winter Championships.

Millie Colbear, competing in her first championships at the tender age of nine, came home from Ponds Forge with the gold in the 50m backstroke.

She also took the bronze in the 50m free.

Amber Hardy became Yorkshire champion in the ten-year-old girls 100m backstroke, while her team mate Laura Brookes took titles in the 200m medley and the 100m butterfly.

Mathew Jubb added a gold medal for the ten-year-old boys in the 50m free and Joe Litchfield claimed the title in the under 13 boys 100m backstroke.

Max Litchfield, Jarvis Parkinson and Shannon Dodson also managed to gain a national qualifying time at the first time of asking.
