Radio Yorkshire have announced plans to broadcast live commentary of Saturday’s Ladbrokes St Leger at Doncaster.

The DAB and online station will provide live coverage of the world’s oldest classic at half time during their coverage of Leeds United.

They will also broadcast three live Group Two races on Friday - The Flying Childers Stakes, Mayhill Stakes and Doncaster Cup.

Last month the station covered York Racecourse’s Ebor Festival, with the Juddemonte International called by top commentator Gareth Topham, with expert analysis from horse racing correspondent Bobby Beevers.

“Bringing Yorkshire racing to the Yorkshire airwaves and promoting a great sport is what I and the station are passionate about,” said Beevers.

“It’s great to be extending our coverage and working alongside one of the top racing commentators in the country in Gareth Topham.”

Director of broadcasting Sam Brydges said: “Bobby does a great job reporting on and promoting Yorkshire Racing. A big thank you to York and Doncaster for this opportunity.

“Anyone who heard Bobby and Gareth’s live action broadcast of the Juddemonte International will know where to come to hear what promises to be another cracker in the St Leger.”

The St Leger at Doncaster will be broadcast at 3.45pm this Saturday on Radio Yorkshire. Listen on DAB, at radioyorkshire.co.uk or via the Tune In Radio App.
