And they’re off!
The area was awash with runners of all abilities and ages as the Isle of Axholme Half Marathon saw another bumper list of entrants.
The hotly-contested 13.1-mile race along Epworth’s Market Place and through areas including Owston Ferry and Beltoft was held on Sunday morning with nearly 300 runners from all over the country competing.
The event was won by Salford Harriers ace Pumlani Bangani who set an early pace before racing home in an impressive 75 minutes and 23 seconds.
The first woman to cross the finish line was Haxey’s Jayne Baldwin in 89 minutes and 2 seconds.
There was also a fun run which took place before the main event which was organised by members of the Metres To Miles shop in Epworth’s town centre.
The distance was just short of a mile and was held in aid of Isle mum Anna Verrico who is bravely battling cancer (see page 3 of this week’s Epworth Bells).
We were on hand to capture all of the action - get your copy of the Bells for a selection of photographs and a list of results.
